HIGHLIGHTING

„Highlighting“ is an art form, which challenges the capacity to percieve of the artist.

In the first step, a non-representational painting of elapsing watercolours is created. This can be done by the artist herself or by somebody else (children are very suitable for doing this).

In the second step the artist uses ink to draw representational structures into the painting.

In a way “highlighting” is the most prototypical art form: A reality which couldn´t be perceived by the observer can now –  due to a few additional strokes –  be seen.

Highlighting Step 1. The finished first step for a Highlighting picture look e.g. like that: Water colour from 3-year old Thea.
